"We at Laser Process Ltd often use the Planar system for reverse engineering parts. The day the Planar machine was installed we measured, reverse engineered and cut an exact copy of a part in about 5 minutes."

3D Inspection
Flat or folded, our state-of-the-art inspection system will get the job done
2D parts are extremely easy to inspect with the Planar system but what if you fold your parts as well?
Many manufacturers of folded parts wrongly believe that there is no need to inspect their 2D parts prior to folding.  In-fact, excluding faulty equipment or usage, most folding problems occur because the 2D input to the folding machine is substandard or of variable quality.  For example variable/poor thickness, flatness, 2D shape or hardness.
The Planar system can catch these problems before folding and confirm the complete 3D shape of a folded part in 3 easy steps.
  1. Inspect the part in 2D.  This can be done with the Single Click Inspection in around 30 seconds.  If the part is ok, you know you will not be folding scrap and the input to your folding machine is good.
  2. Fold the part
  3. Use the 3D Line Laser to inspect the fold lengths, heights and angles, to confirm the 3D shape of the part.  This can be done in less than 5 minutes and with very little training.
The 3 Step Process works on the principal that if the 2D shape is ok and the folds are ok then the 3D shape must be ok; because logically the part cannot shrink or grow and the holes cannot changes size or move around the part.
