The Planar software also possesses a sophisticated state-of-the-art reverse engineering module, as standard. This module allows the user to create digital CAD/DXF/DWG drawings of complex sample parts or templates where none may exist.
Job shops who own the Planar system tell us that the reverse engineering module allows them to increase their orders by taking on work other job shops have to turn away. And because they have no competition on price, they can charge what the customer is willing to pay!
Our advanced fitting technology (derived from the fitting techniques used in particle accelerators) is capable of instantaneously fitting lines, ellipses, curves, circles and complex polylines with arcs, to accuracies measured in the tens of microns, saving hours of measurement.
Problems in the part such as worn holes or damaged edges can be easily filtered out of the reverse engineered copy to get back to the "perfect" original CAD/DXF file. Furthermore, because the software contains most CAD functions, features can be edited or created during the reverse engineering process.
Another useful feature of the reverse engineering module is the ability to measure the length of the perimeters of a part. This value is often used by laser or water cutters to cost a job.
Within 1 minute you can cost and copy a part.
